THE SPACE

Creativity loves company.

A 5,000 square foot, ground-level warehouse studio in Strathcona, built and run by art department people. An 18-foot cyclorama under a 20×20 light grid, a prop warehouse on the other side of the wall, and room for crews of up to one hundred… open 24 hours a day.

The cyclorama.

Vancouver’s second largest cyc wall: eighteen feet of seamless white, pre-lit under the grid with an RGB softbox overhead. Roll equipment (or a car) straight in through the bay door.

The bay door takes a car. This one came straight off Union Street and onto the cyc… lit, shot and home by dinner.

ON THE DAY

Production-ready.

Rates are scaled by crew size, not production value. A production office on site, parking off the lane, blackout when you need it, and a load-in that doesn’t involve stairs.

Daylight, a deep sofa and a counter to gather around. A place for clients, talent and the four o’clock slump to land.

The studio lives inside Big Baby’s prop warehouse. Cleared art, groceries, liquor, books and signage are an aisle away, not a truck ride.

Priced for working crews.

Starter rates, made for independent artists, emerging productions and lean teams making big things happen. Bigger shoot on deck? Day rates scale by crew size, with prep and wrap days at half rate and 25% off additional shoot days.

Studio FAQ

How do I book the studio?

Pick an open date on the calendar above, choose your rate and add it to cart. Full payment secures the booking and we confirm every date by email.

What’s included?

The 18-foot cyclorama, the 20×20 overhead light grid, blackout curtains and our RGB softbox, with a projector on request. Drive-in load-in bay, free parking and 5-ton truck access, and our prop warehouse is one wall away. Your access time includes load-in and load-out.

How big a crew can I bring?

Our small-footprint rate covers a crew of up to 5, with unlimited talent. For bigger productions we can host up to 90 on site – send a special request and we’ll quote it.

Do I need insurance?

Yes, Commercial General Liability insurance with a minimum of $2,000,000 CAD, listing Big Baby Studios as Additional Insured. Proof of insurance is required before access.

What’s the cancellation policy?

7+ days before your date: full refund. Under 7 days: no refund. Under 24 hours: full amount owed.

Are there rules for the cyc?

Please don’t step on the curved cove corners or drag equipment, and protective footwear is required. Painting the cyc needs written approval; repaint fees start at $150 per affected wall or floor section.

Anything we can’t do?

No open flames, drilling, painting the cyc, or subletting without written approval. Quiet hours are after 10 PM and you’re responsible for any city noise complaints.

How should we leave the space?

Bag garbage in the bins, reset the furniture and sweep the floors. No confetti or glitter unless approved. Excess cleaning is billed at $50/hour, and a lost key fob is $25.
