Open doors.

Big Baby is a working studio first… but we believe a space like this belongs to its neighbourhood. We love collaborating with artists, makers and friends on the kind of one-off experiences you have to be in the room for: screenings, gallery shows and things that don’t have a name yet. If you have an idea, come dream it up with us.

Bring your people.

From dinners and gallery openings to workshops, screenings, performances, launches, pop-ups and shoots, the cyclorama and studio floor flex to fit the night, up to 50 guests with unlimited talent on the floor.

We have a real soft spot for creative, community-minded gatherings, and we like getting in early to shape the idea together rather than just hand over the keys.

A few house notes: every booking is confirmed by email, and because the space is shared and cared for, we don’t sublet or run other businesses through it. Pick a date on the calendar above, then choose an option below.

Live, in the moment.

When we say the human touch, this is what we mean: real people in a real room, making something together that only exists because everyone showed up. Movement, light, nerve and play… unrepeatable, and worth being in the room for.

FROM THE FLOOR

Peep Show, vol. 1.

One night this spring the gallery walls rolled in, small works by local artists went up and the doors swung open… snack cart glowing, neighbours wandering in off Union Street. The first of many.

AND THEN SOME more

Nights we loved.

Poetry readings on the bleachers. Premiere screenings with the projector humming. DJ sessions under the light grid, holiday dinners, launch nights for things our friends made. Every one of them is the reason we built this place. The joy is the point.

LET’S TALK

We love to hear ideas.

Every happening here starts as a conversation. Celebrating a private birthday? For groups under 50, we have a special rate of $1,000 (it would normally run $1,200 to $1,400), everything included. Artists, we keep special gallery rates for shows… just ask. Whatever you’re dreaming up, reach out and we’ll figure it out together.

Functions & events FAQ

How do I book a function?
Pick an open date on the calendar above and choose Day or Full Day, or request a quote for larger functions. Full payment secures your date and we confirm by email.
What does the space include?
The full 5,000 sq ft studio with the 18-foot cyc as your backdrop, the 20×20 light grid, blackout curtains and a projector. Drive-in load-in, free parking and 5-ton truck access. Room for up to 50 people.
How many guests can we have?
Up to 50 for our standard function. Planning something bigger? Request a quote and we’ll talk it through.
Do you collaborate on event ideas?
Always, we host and co-create here, so tell us what you’re dreaming up. One note: we don’t offer the space for subleasing or for running a separate business through us.
What about noise and timing?
Quiet hours are after 10 PM and you’re responsible for any city noise complaints or fines. Your access time includes set-up and tear-down; overtime is billed hourly.
Cleaning and confetti?
Bag garbage in the bins, reset furniture and sweep floors. No confetti or glitter unless approved. Excess cleaning is billed at $50/hour.
What’s the cancellation policy?
7+ days before your date: full refund. Under 7 days: no refund. Under 24 hours: full amount owed.
Do we need insurance?
Functions require Commercial General Liability insurance (minimum $2,000,000 CAD) listing Big Baby Studios as Additional Insured, with proof before access.
